Dana Scoby, Violin

Having worked for more than 20 years in high tech public relations and marketing, in 2002 Dana founded her own music school, Maestro School of Music www.maestroschoolofmusic.com. She now teaches violin and piano throughout the Bay Area, from Palo Alto to Santa Cruz. During any moment of downtime, you'll find her playing with Bay Area symphony orchestras, including: Coastside Community Orchestra (2 years as concertmistress and soloist), Lyric Theatre, Peninsula Symphony, Mission Chamber Orchestra, Mission City Opera, New Valley Symphony (Los Angeles), Palo Alto Symphony, San Jose Symphonic Choir, Stanford Jazz Band, and the Winchester Orchestra.

Dana started playing the violin at age 7, studying in Los Angeles under Dorothy Compinsky and her violinist and composer husband, Manuel Compinsky, who studied with the famed Fritz Kreisler, one of the 20th century's finest violinists. Her life long love for music comes from her mother, a music/voice teacher, and grandfather, a fiddler and banjo player who homesteaded property in Wyoming.

Dana also serves as publicist and marketing consultant for several music clients such as Elfenworks, jazz violinist Jeremy Cohen, jazz pianist Tammy Hall and classical virtuoso violinist, Aaron Rosand.
